How We Started
Our very-very first design ever!
Okay… So what is it?
A tape dispenser if we are being quite honest. Nothing spectacular. However, this design was useful for cutting tape off large reels of industrial ESD tape. It was always hard to tape up a reel of electronic components with one hand and try to tear off a piece of tape with the other! This design never took off though, but this laid the groundwork down for how the company engineering design team operates today.
A Miraculous Introduction
When the CEO, lived at his mom’s house (more or less in the basement playing video games), this is when the idea originated. While he was working, not so diligently in college for an Associate of Arts and Science he ran into some problems. Well, problems that had always been there from the start. From a difficult childhood, financial/emotional instability, and many other mistakes we all surely have made too, the CEO has seen his fair share of less-than-par experiences. Did we mention the CEO failed Algebra 1 in college, 4 times? Don’t mention which one of us told you or we'll probably get fired! In all seriousness, this was a very discouraging phase in his life, so much so that he just wanted the failure to end. Add to that notion the fact of COVID-19 coming in and changing all of our lives. While in these dark times, this is when the light happened to shine through. The owner was inspirited to do something not many have done, and this is that story. In 2020 the owner decided that since we are all stuck indoors it would be better to get hobbies rather than mope and be sad all the time.
3D printing is not all that new, but FDM desktop printing was just starting to become popular- really popular. The owner purchased one really cheap machine, got to learn the basics, watched videos, set up the machine, and he was ready for his first print ever. Oh boy! Did he even know what expedition he had just embarked on? The first print was some kind of dinosaur, not sure. It failed and he only took one picture of it, which hilariously enough, only was its “behind” region. The next print, however, wasn’t a hobby print, but rather an intricate design. This turned out to be his real hobby.
He designed an ESD reel tape dispenser for a huge reel of tape in the manufacturing plant he worked in to make life easier for people needing to use this large and heavy reel. People loved the design! He even voiced to everyone to just be honest that the idea was stupid - but that’s not what happened. In fact, people came up to him with all seriousness telling him to patent his idea, because they found it worth it! Then after that design came ESD-safe PCB holders for linear rails on SMT lines. This design was far more popular and the CEO was really starting to see that drafting and designing useful items for others was extremely rewarding. The owner tried to get his old company to purchase these old designs, but that did not happen. Because of this, the owner start to work on more individual projects like door hinges, window hinges, and basically anything that is used around the house that you either can’t find a replacement for, or the original company went out of business which makes that product.
Design after design failed business deal after failed deal the owner started to lose hope. Then one day, the owner watched a YouTube video about the bible and the pastor had mentioned John Von Neumann and his research. From there, he delved into his work and was absolutely astonished by his research. So much so that he had to replicate it. Not only just replicated it, but employ Von Neumann’s research and take it a step further. This evolved into researching and designing the Typis you see today.
The Typis is years of research and development, trying to create a machine that is self-sustaining, self-reproducing, self-building, evolving, synthesizing, communicating, and experiencing - all without the help of human hands. This opened the CEO’s eyes to a whole new reality. The world, the people, and everything within are not elements of nothing. Nothing + No one = Everything - is not proper.
This machine would not have been created without one infinite singular causality - a creator. The same goes for all of us.
